Tightening
Norms (for diesel vehicles > 3.5 ton gvw) |
ILL EFFECTS OF DIESEL EMISSION
Diesel exhaust consists of ten to hundred times more particles
than petrol. It is not the total quantity of particles that
matters so much for public health as the size of particles
in vehicular exhaust. The smaller the particles the worse they
are, because they go deep into the lungs and stay there for
a long time. Toxicological studies have also shown up diesel
particles to be highly carcinogenic.
NOISE POLLUTION
Noise has been notified as a pollutant under the air (prevention & control
of pollution) ACT, 1981.The main sources of noise pollution
are automobiles, construction equipment, loudspeakers, pressure
horns etc. Noise is described as unwanted sound that produces
a deleterious effect on health and affects the physical & psychological
well being of people.
